Run 4 Cancer
If you are looking to run to raise money for a Charity, then look no further!
Who we are:
Long associated with the New Forest Marathon, Run 4 Cancer is a Hampshire based charity that was set up by a group of keen runners who have all lost a close relative or friend to cancer. Run 4 Cancer provides days out and holidays for families who have been affected by cancer, giving them something to look forward to during the most difficult of times.
With a focus on ‘creating memories which last a lifetime’, Run 4 Cancer provides holidays for up to 500 people per year. Many of these respite holidays take place at the charity’s respite home on the Isle of Wight with families travelling to the island via the New Forest from Lymington.
Run 4 Cancer also makes grants to palliative care institutions and supports research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help both prevent cancer and assist in recovery post diagnosis.
Testimonials
“Just to say what you do is amazing. Nothing would have taken my kids’ hurt away the day we told them I was dying, but having that break organised for us at Center Parcs made them realise they would smile and laugh again and created some very special memories for all of us. Thank you.” Nicola
“I am writing to thank you for arranging the sailing days for my son (Age 13), daughter and I. Thank you for taking the time to make the difference to the lives of children that have had to cope with things that nobody should have to go through, let alone young kids. Yours with grateful thanks.” Karen
What to do next:
You can gain a free entry for any of the New Forest Marathon race events this year simply by supporting Run 4 Cancer. All Run 4 Cancer runners receive help setting up a fundraising page, a training plan and the option of a Run 4 Cancer running vest.
Given the importance of exercise to help both prevent cancer and to assist in recovery post diagnosis, Run 4 Cancer also has a number of places to give away to people in recovery from cancer.
